Privacy Policy

JobTrue ("we", "our", "us") is a job search tool built to help you apply smarter. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control or delete it. The short version: your resume is yours, we never sell your data, and we never use your content to train AI models.

What we collect

Account info — Your email address and the display name you provide at signup.
Resume content — Everything you enter during onboarding and in the resume editor — work history, skills, education, and any other content you add.
Job listings — Job descriptions you paste or import. These are stored so we can run fit analyses and generate tailored materials.
AI-generated outputs — Fit scores, tailored resumes, cover letters, interview prep, and health check results generated on your behalf.
Application data — Notes, contacts, interview rounds, tasks, and status updates you record in the application tracker.
Billing info — We do not store your payment card. Stripe handles all payment processing and stores payment details on their servers under their own privacy policy.
Usage data — Anonymous page views and feature usage via Vercel Analytics. No cross-site tracking. No fingerprinting.

How we use your data

We use your data to provide and improve the JobTrue service:

  • Running fit analyses, resume tailoring, cover letters, and interview prep
  • Displaying your resume and application data in the dashboard
  • Processing subscription payments via Stripe
  • Sending transactional emails (receipts, billing alerts) — no marketing email without consent
  • Diagnosing errors and improving reliability

Your resume content and job listings are sent to Anthropic's API to generate AI outputs. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models. We do not use your content to train any AI model.

Third-party services

We use these services to operate JobTrue:

Google Firebase / Firestore

Authentication and database — your account and all stored data lives here.

Anthropic

AI model API — resume and job content is sent here to generate fit scores and tailored materials.

Stripe

Payment processing — handles subscription billing. We never see your full card number.

Vercel

Hosting and analytics — servers the app and provides anonymous usage metrics.

Upstash Redis

Rate limiting — stores temporary request counters by user ID. No personal content.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all data associated with it — resume content, job listings, AI outputs, application records — is permanently deleted within 30 days. Stripe retains billing records as required by law; we cannot delete those.

Your rights

  • Access — you can view all your data in the dashboard at any time.
  • Export — contact us to request a copy of your data in JSON format.
  • Delete — use Settings → Delete account to permanently remove all your data. This cannot be undone.
  • Correct — edit your resume or account info directly in the app.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. Vercel Analytics uses first-party cookies for anonymous visit counting. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Children

JobTrue is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date at the top and notify active users by email. Continued use after the updated date constitutes acceptance.
